The Philadelphia 76ers will begin a new era when the 2023-24 season tips off. They will have a new voice in the head coach’s chair.
That was assured after the Sixers parted ways with Doc Rivers on Tuesday after three seasons that included a lot of winning, but three consecutive conference semifinals exits.
Rivers had a winning percentage of .653 and changed a lot about the Sixers during his time on the job. They earned the No. 1 seed in 2021 for the first time since 2001, and they won 154 games under his guidance while helping Joel Embiid take the next steps in his development.
There have already been a few names mentioned to replace Rivers, including assistant Sam Cassell who won two titles as a player in the league. It will be interesting to see who the Sixers choose to replace Rivers as they continue on their championship path.
