The Philadelphia 76ers picked up one of the more chaotic wins one will ever see on Friday when they picked up a 133-122 overtime win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Things went bad quickly for the Sixers as they saw an 18-point lead slip away and this really could have been a loss.
Once a bad pass bounced off Joel Embiid’s face and into the hands of Lakers star Anthony Davis, who was then fouled by Tobias Harris, and went to the line with LA trailing 120-119, it appeared that Los Angeles would steal a win.
Instead, Davis only made one of the free throws and the Sixers were then able to prevail in overtime. Embiid had 38 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists while De’Anthony Melton had career-highs of 33 points, seven steals, and he made eight triples.
NBA Twitter was ablaze as fans and analysts alike reacted to the win for Philadelphia to end a 3-game skid.
