Russell Westbrook turned in his best game for the purple and gold as the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Charlotte Hornets Friday.

With LeBron James and Anthony Davis out with injuries, the Lakers needed Westbrook to step up if the squad wanted any chance at winning.

Westbrook did just that. After a five-point first half, the former MVP turned on the jets in the second half and dropped 30 points. Without his scoring explosion, the Lakers don’t have a chance at being alive for the final possession, which came down to Westbrook’s 3-point attempt.

Though it didn’t fall, Westbrook finished with 35 points on 12-of-23 shooting overall, 3-of-7 from deep and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe — a commendable effort given the situation.
