NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves at Barclays Center for the second and final matchup between the two teams this season and lost 107-102. The regular-season series between the two teams is tied 1-1.
For the Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie had 30 points and six rebounds while Mikal Bridges had 24 points and five rebounds. Dorian Finney-Smith and Cam Johnson had 14 points each.
For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards had 23 points and five rebounds while Karl-Anthony Towns had 22 points and 14 rebounds. Mike Conley had 18 points and Jaden McDaniels had 15 points.
In the first half, the Nets did not have their best shooting performance from the field overall (41.9%), but they offset that by shooting 50% from three-point land. The Timberwolves owned Brooklyn in the paint early on as they scored 18 of their 31 first-quarter in the painted area. The Nets was able to get Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in foul trouble and that allowed Brooklyn to attack the paint and open up their offense.
In the second half, it was more of a nip-and-tuck game as neither team was able to gain much separation from the other. Minnesota started having more success scoring in the paint and that led to the game getting bogged down and taking the legs out of the Nets that were running Minnesota off the floor in the first half. This game came down to the last shot and the Timberwolves got the benefit of that this time around.
