The Philadelphia 76ers had nothing going on Tuesday night as a team. As they took on the Boston Celtics at home, they needed somebody to step up and provide something for this group when considering the struggles of the supporting cast.
That somebody was their MVP big man: Joel Embiid. The big fella put on a scintillating performance as he went for 52 points on 20-for-25 shooting and he pulled down 13 rebounds and six assists in a 103-101 win over the Celtics. Philadelphia survived a late collapse as Boston almost stole this one at the buzzer.
The Sixers as a team shot 39-for-78 on the night. Every Sixer not named Embiid shot just 19-for-53 as it was just a struggle for Philadelphia to find rhythm. James Harden had 20 points and 10 assists and PJ Tucker had 11 points with nine coming in the final 2:53 to give Philadelphia the spark they needed.
