Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden made his return to Barclays Center on Saturday in a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. The matchup lost a little juice after the Nets traded Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant before the deadline, but the matchup still brought a lot of drama on Saturday night.
Harden scored 29 points along with six rebounds and six assists as the Sixers escaped the new-look Nets 101-98 on the road. Brooklyn’s Spencer Dinwiddie drilled a game-tying triple at the buzzer that would have forced overtime, but after the officials reviewed it, they waved it off as they said the ball left his hands too late.
Along with Harden’s big game, Joel Embiid had 37 points with 13 rebounds while Tyrese Maxey had 12 points off the bench. Their production helped offside a tough night shooting the ball from Tobias Harris, De’Anthony Melton, and others.
