The Golden State Warriors continue to look down upon LaMelo Ball as they head closer to the 2020 NBA Draft, and the newest report shows that they’re only growing sourer on him. Despite the tantalizing prospect of placing the draft’s most popular prospect on one of the league’s most popular teams, Golden State appears to be moving further from that proposition.
In his extensive piece on Ball, the San Francisco Chronicle’s Connor Letourneau quoted a Western Conference NBA scout on the likelihood of Ball landing in California.
“I’d be shocked if the Warriors took LaMelo. It just doesn’t really make sense on multiple levels. What makes LaMelo great is his court vision and passing, but he’d have a tough time maximizing those in the Bay Area.”
Ball would have a tough time maximizing his skill set in his first years in Golden State largely due to opportunity, or lack thereof. The Warriors also would likely prefer a more immediate-impact player.
In recent weeks and months, reports from multiple places have suggested the Warriors prefer players like Deni Avdija and Tyrese Haliburton over Ball. It’s clear the franchise has little to no intentions of bringing in Ball, which makes the coming months of trade rumors all the more intriguing to ponder.
