The identity of the individual that didn’t select Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant as the Rookie of the Year was revealed on Saturday after the NBA released the complete voting ballots of the 100 global sportswriters and broadcasters in charge of the selecting the end-of-season awards.
Morant received 99 out of a possible 100 first-place votes in the final voting results with the only other vote going to Zion Williamson. Morant was viewed as the favorite to win the award after averaging 17.6 points, 6.9 assists and 3.5 assists in 59 games played before the season shut down on March 11.
The NBA on Saturday unveiled the full media ballots for each member that voted in the end of season awards and revealed that sportswriter Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times was the lone voter that didn’t select Morant as Rookie of the Year. Cowley voted Williamson first, Morant second and Miami Heat guard Kendrick Nunn third.

Morant called out the person that didn’t choose him as Rookie of the Year when he accepted the award this month. He wanted to know their identity so he could thank them for motivating him even more and, now, he can do just that.
