NBA postpones all Wednesday games, including Lakers-Blazers, after players go on strike

The Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers are following the lead of their NBA peers in striking on Wednesday.

The NBA’s players have gone on strike. For how long, nobody knows, but what we do know is that the three-game slate of Game 5s in the first round of the playoffs have been at the very least postponed, as all six teams have decided to not play in their respective games. It began with the Milwaukee Bucks boycotting their games but it quickly turned into an all-out labor strike by the players on all six teams who were playing today. Eventually, the NBA announced that all three games to be played on Wednesday would be postponed and rescheduled.

Shortly after the Bucks-Magic game was called off, the Thunder and Rockets decided they would boycott. Yahoo’s Chris Haynes reported that they were likely to be followed by the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers, who were to play in Wednesday’s late game, as they were leaning towards joining the strike until the NBA made the “official” call to postpone and reschedule.

It appears that the NBA bubble and the playoffs are in legitimate jeopardy as the players react to yet another case of unnecessary violence against a Black person by law enforcement.
