NBA Playoffs: Former Warrior DeMarcus Cousins tallies 11 points in Clippers’ game 1 loss vs. Suns, 120-114

With the Golden State Warriors turning the page to the offseason, Warriors Wire is checking in on former Warriors across the NBA postseason.

With the Golden State Warriors punching an early ticket to the offseason after a pair of losses in the Western Conference play-in tournament, Warriors Wire is checking in on former members of Golden State across the 2021 edition of the NBA postseason.

In the conference championship round of the playoffs, the only former member of the Golden State Warriors on the floor is DeMarcus Cousins. The former Golden State center is vying to get to the NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Clippers. To get there, Cousins, Paul George and Terrance Mann will have to go through Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns.

Here is a look at how Cousins performed during game one of the Western Conference finals between the No. 2 seed Phoenix Suns and No. 4 Los Angeles Clippers.

Western Conference finals, Game 1: Clippers at Suns:

With Kawhi Leonard ruled out for the opening game of the Western Conference finals, Paul George led the Los Angeles Clippers against the Phoenix Suns, scoring 34 points on 10-of-26 shooting from the floor with five assists and two steals.

Reggie Jackson added 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field with six boards and four assists, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with Phoenix’s rising star Devin Booker.

The Kentucky Wildcats product pushed the Suns to a game one victory behind 40 points on 15-of-29 shooting from the floor with 13 rebounds and 11 assists.

During the Suns’ 120-114 game one victory, former Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins played 13 minutes off the bench for the Clippers, scoring 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field. Cousins tacked on four rebounds and an assist against the Suns in game one.

In the second quarter, Cousins provided a highlight-reel moment for Los Angeles. With the game tied, the veteran big man spiked an emphatic one-handed slam dunk over Phoenix’s Dario Saric. Cousins was also fouled on the dunk, setting up the opportunity for a three-point play.
