On Saturday, the WNBA tipped off the 2020 season as former MVP Breanna Stewart and the Seattle Storm matched up with No. 1 overall pick Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
The WNBA announced last month its plans for all 12 teams to play a 22-game schedule in one location with a traditional playoff format to follow the regular season. Teams first arrived at the IMG Academy this month and have participated in a training camp ahead of the season tip-off.
As the WNBA tipped off on Saturday, several NBA players honored the women set to play. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook, Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young were some that showed love.

In addition to those players, Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams showed his support for the WNBA this week after showing up to practice wearing Ionescu’s No. 20 Liberty jersey. Williams has often shown love to the WNBA and is a big fan of the sports.
