Kevin Durant wasn’t planning to play all 48 minutes, but the two-time NBA champion did just that en route to a historic performance on Tuesday night to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a Game 5 win over the Milwaukee Bucks at Barclays Center.
Durant recorded a game-high 49 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and two blocked shots while playing every minute during the 114-108 win over the Bucks. He became the first player in NBA history to reach those numbers in a playoff game.
Brooklyn trailed Milwaukee by as many as 17 points early in the third quarter, but Durant produced 31 points alone in the second half to erase the deficit and take the lead late. Jeff Green had a playoff-career-high 27 points to lead the Nets’ efforts off the bench.
His 27 points were the most by a Net off the bench in playoff history.
Needless to say, the performance by Durant, plus the effort by Green, had #NBATwitter talking as the Bucks blew a 17-point lead in the second half. The contest had NBA players talking — both current and former players — with several weighing in on the final result.
GREATNESS!! Appreciate it while you can people! #KD
