There was a lot of controversy for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers surrounding his late scratch in the loss to the Denver Nuggets on Jan. 27. Obviously, there was a lot of disappointment that Embiid missed the matchup against Nikola Jokic, but the controversy was he was not on the injury report.
Embiid is obviously hurt. He ended up missing the next contest against the Portland Trail Blazers and then was clearly hobbled in the loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Sixers now must wait to see what happens next with the big fella.
The NBA did end up investigating Embiid’s absence against the Nuggets and while Philadelphia was in no violation of the player participation policy, the league fined them $75,000 for not listing Embiid on the injury report.

The Sixers are currently 0-4 on their 5-game road trip and will look to salvage a game on Thursday against the Utah Jazz before returning home.
