The Philadelphia 76ers welcomed big man Joel Embiid back to the floor in an April 2 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The reigning league MVP had not played since Jan. 30 due to a meniscus injury in his left knee that needed surgery.
While Embiid’s return is obviously the most important thing for the Sixers, the NBA fined the team for how he was listed on the injury report ahead of the game.
The Sixers listed Embiid as out before he was upgraded to questionable shortly before the game and then was ruled available. The NBA stepped in and fined the Sixers $100K for violating the league’s injury reporting rules.

For the Sixers, paying $100K to have Embiid back on the floor is a price worth paying.
