The NBA season may not be restarting any time soon, but we could see some of the NBA’s best shooters going head-to-head in the near future, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski reported Saturday that the NBA and ESPN are planning a broadcast featuring “high-profile” players competing in a game of H-O-R-S-E. Players would not be required to shoot in the same gym and would remain isolated to comply with social distancing guidelines.
It wouldn’t be the first time that NBA stars have faced off in televised H-O-R-S-E – though the last experiment in 2010 didn’t exactly make for compelling television. With the bar so much lower for live sports entertainment in 2020, though, fans will likely take whatever they can get.
The NBA and ESPN are working on televising a H-O-R-S-E competition involving several high-profile players, sources say. Players would shoot in isolation β presumably in home gyms β and match shots against competitors. Details are still being finalized.

Many NBA fans responded to the idea by immediately roasting Ben Simmons.
A reminder the last time the NBA tried H-O-R-S-E competition it was the most aggressively boring television in NBA history pic.twitter.com/3o3Vl7Mc6n

First I want H-O-R-S-E with NBA players and then I want football players doing a punt/pass/kick competition https://t.co/mi8ZsieDbN

Loved H-O-R-S-E competition during 1977-78 season when I was a kid. Was amazed by those guys, especially Pistol Pete. Could get lost in the weeds watching on YouTube. https://t.co/zAkyc9HQk8
