NBA Board of Governors approve of return plan, NBA officially back

The NBA is officially returning as the Board of Governors has approved on a plan to return to play.

The NBA is officially back. After presenting his plan to the Board of Governors on Wednesday, commissioner Adam Silver held a call with the Governors and they all voted on and approved of the plan. This makes the return of basketball now official.

The league will send 22 teams to Orlando on July 31 to resume and finish the 2019-20 season which has been suspended since March 11 due to the global coronavirus pandemic. They will play eight regular-season games each to determine playoff seeding and then go into the playoffs that way. They will play the next eight games that were regularly scheduled before the league hiatus.

For the Philadelphia 76ers, this now gives them their chance. They have been preaching this entire time that they are built for the playoffs and now is their chance to get it going. This also gives coach Brett Brown a chance to figure out what he plans to do with Ben Simmons off the ball and how Joel Embiid and Al Horford will work on the floor together in a playoff setting.
