NBA announced lottery, draft dates for 2021 class

The NBA announced the draft and lottery dates for the 2021 offseason. The Thunder will be paying attention to their own pick and that of the Rockets.

The NBA draft lottery will be held on June 22 and the draft itself will be a little more than a month later on July 29, the league announced on Monday.

The lottery will be televised by ESPN at 7:30 p.m. Central Time.

Grab your remote for the draft. The first round will be aired on ESPN and ABC beginning at 7 p.m. Central Time, and the second round will only be held on ESPN.

Oklahoma City Thunder fans will be tuned into the lottery for one of the first times in recent memory. After a long string of playoff runs, the Thunder enter Tuesday with a record of 19-27, the eighth-worst record in the league.

The Thunder also have the rights to the Houston Rockets’ pick if it does not land in the top four. Houston is tied for the second-worst record in the league.

If the Rockets remain in the top three, they will have a 52.1% chance of keeping their pick and a 47.9% chance of sending it to Oklahoma City.

The Thunder’s odds will likely change in the coming weeks, but if they finish the season in the same place in the standings, they would have a 26.2% chance of jumping into the top four.

There is some excitement for the top of this year’s draft class. Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley and Jalen Suggs have all impressed at the college level, while Jonathan Kuminga and Jalen Green played well in the G League.
