Nation’s top-rated player, 2025 five-star QB visiting Michigan football, again

He just can’t get enough.

With Jadyn Davis in the fold for 2024, Michigan football is working diligently to get its next five-star passer into the 2025 class. Well, there just so happens to be one right down the street at Belleville. He’s frequently on campus, and he’s back yet again.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday and visiting with some teammates, Belleville five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, the top QB in the country and the No. 1 player overall in the class of 2025, according to On3’s proprietary rankings, is back seeing what the Wolverines have to offer. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has made his way to Schembechler Hall multiple times this offseason, more than to any other program.

Whether Underwood pulls the trigger at any point, we have no answers. But it can’t be a bad thing.

The Wolverines have long sought after Underwood’s services, but are hedging their bets in 2025, also working at Findlay (Ohio) four-star Ryan Montgomery and Brentwood (Tennessee) Academy five-star George McIntyre.

Here’s Allen Trieu of 247Sports’ evaluation:

Ahead of his years physically and looks like he could be a senior or college player already. Has a strong arm with the ability to make throws to any part of the field. Throws a good deep ball and can use touch to give his receivers a chance to go make plays on the ball. Did an exceptional job of taking care of the ball as a freshman with 39 touchdowns to just four interceptions. Got rid of the ball quickly and was decisive with the ball for the most part. Very good athlete who honestly could be a high-level recruit on defense if he was not such a great quarterback. Uses those legs to escape the rush and extend plays. He looks to throw after escaping but can also take off and be dangerous as a runner. Won a state title as a freshman and had to come up with some clutch throws through the season and playoff run, showing he could come through in clutch situations. Currently shows no glaring weaknesses, just needs to continue to progress in terms of learning defenses and going through progressions, but shows high-end physical tools as well as intangibles. Is a high Power Five prospect who will be recruited very heavily at a national level.

Michigan has had mixed success recruiting Belleville, but that was under former head coach Jermain Crowell. Now the Tigers have a new coach after Crowell and his eventual replacement departed the program.
