Recruitment

Anthony had been aggressively pursued by the Wolverines for years, and it was most heightened right before the COVID-19 pandemic took ahold.

Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and Josh Gattis were mainstays at Anthony’s high school basketball games, working hard to get the versatile athlete to pledge to the maize and blue. But when Mel Tucker took over as the new head coach for rival MSU, the Spartans tried diligently to flip the East Lansing native. It seems to be working — Penn State and Notre Dame were also involved — but ultimately he committed to Michigan on July 31, 2020.

However, when Michigan lost to MSU on the field on Halloween, it appeared that Anthony was ready to flip to the Spartans. He didn’t and he ultimately reaffirmed his commitment to stay in Ann Arbor.

Anthony told WolverinesWire he may pursue playing basketball with former high school classmate Brandon Johns Jr. and best friend Kobe Bufkin, who signed with the team last month.

Readiness Level

Could be a first-year contributor at wide receiver and on special teams.
