After his performance on Friday night, it was only a matter of formality before the SEC announced officially what was obvious. Texas A&M sophomore Nathan Dettmer, is the SEC conference pitcher of the week.
In the Aggies’ series opener against the Georgia Bulldogs, Dettmer allowed only 1 unearned run in a career-high 8 innings pitched. He didn’t walk a single Dawgs batter, and struck out 9 while allowing only 5 hits. The unearned run was the result of two A&M defensive errors in the bottom of the first, before Dettmer slammed the door shut.
The Aggies 8-1 win on Friday, was Dettmer’s 3rd W on the season, pushing his record to 3-2. The sophomore holds a 3.54 ERA and an impressive 1.23 WHIP on the year.
Dettmer is the 2nd Aggie’s hurler to win the Pitcher of the Week award this season.
