Predators at Panthers: Projected starting goalies

Pekka Rinne (2-2-0, 2.97 GAA, .885 SV%) vs. Chris Driedger (2-0-1, 1.95 GAA, .937 SV%)

Rinne is likely to get the nod after G Juuse Saros started Thursday’s game. Saros allowed five goals on just 24 shots, and he was yanked after two periods. Rinne stopped all 12 shots he faced in the third period and into overtime, picking up the surprise victory.

Driedger is all but confirmed to start after G Sergei Bobrovsky allowed six goals on 41 shots in Thursday’s 6-5 OT loss. Driedger has allowed exactly two goals in each of his three outings so far this season, and he hasn’t lost in regulation while winning two of the starts.

Predators at Panthers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Panthers 3, Predators 2

Money line (ML)

The PANTHERS (-110) are a good bet to bounce back on home ice after Thursday’s thriller which saw them come up on the short end against the Predators. Florida is 8-3 in its past 11 games when working on no rest.

Against the spread (ATS)

The teams played a one-goal game Thursday, and you can expect another close battle when they run it back Friday. The Panthers -1.5 (+230) are a tempting play at this price, and might be worth a small-unit play, but it’s probably best to avoid since they couldn’t buy a shot against Rinne when he entered in relief Thursday. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-115) is a good play despite the fact there were 11 total goals Thursday. It’s the second matchup of the back-to-back, and the legs should be a little rubbery after having played less than 24 hours ago. The Under is 4-1 in Nashville’s past five when playing on no rest, too. Despite Thursday’s high-scoring affair, the Under is still 4-1-1 in the past six meetings, and 7-2-3 in the past 12 battles in Sunrise, Fla.
