NASCAR’s schedule for the 2024 Cup Series season is expected to be released next week but several dates have already been confirmed. The road course layout at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is gone as it returns to the oval while Bristol Motor Speedway holds two concrete races in 2024. However, another expected change has been reported.
According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, NASCAR’s annual date at Texas Motor Speedway will move out of the playoffs for the 2024 season. The race track is expected to move to the spring but no official date has been revealed at this point. This would be the first time that Texas does not hold a playoff race under the new format.
This means NASCAR would need to replace Texas in the playoffs for the 2024 season. In 2023, William Byron survived a chaotic event and claimed his sixth victory of the year. Texas has been a controversial venue since its repave and it seems like there will be a different atmosphere the next time NASCAR enters the speedway.
