NASCAR’s charters reportedly around big mark of $40-50 million

NASCAR’s charters are reportedly around a very high price of $40-50 million as the sport negotiates a new charter deal with the teams.

If one thing is clear when talking to NASCAR owners, the price for a charter is way too high as of right now. Several owners, such as Justin Marks, Brad Keselowski, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., have said it is borderline impossible to purchase one for the 2024 NASCAR season. Now, it appears that a price tag has been labeled in such conversations.

According to Catchfence’s Lee Spencer on PRN, the charter market has risen to about $40-50 million if a NASCAR team would like to purchase one of the 36 guaranteed entries. This is a massive rise compared to a few years ago. In fact, it was reported in November 2022 that each charter was worth around $30 million a piece. If this is true, it represents how hard it is to enter the NASCAR Cup Series right now.

It is healthy to have competition to join the Cup Series; however, the price to acquire a charter is way too expensive and is prohibiting the growth of the sport. Maybe, the price to acquire one will decline if NASCAR and its teams agree on a new charter deal.
