NASCAR will officially return to the oval layout at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. After the 2020 season, NASCAR and Indianapolis moved all racing to the road course layout. Over the last three years, NASCAR has enjoyed crazy racing on the road course before deciding to return to the oval this year. In 2025, it will be the same outcome.
According to Indianapolis Motor Speedway track president Doug Boles on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, the sport hasn’t announced it yet; however, the NASCAR Cup Series will return to the oval layout at Indianapolis in 2025. It will be the second consecutive season that NASCAR will run the oval layout at Indianapolis.
Overall, this is an excellent decision for NASCAR and Indianapolis. For example, running the road course is like going to Daytona International Speedway, only not to run the oval. NASCAR deserves to be on the oval layout at Indianapolis, and it’s great to see that it will be in place for the 2025 Cup Series season.
