NASCAR entered Daytona International Speedway with excitement for a new season; however, the weekend was turned upside down. The 2024 Daytona 500 and NASCAR Xfinity Series race were postponed to Monday due to weather. Both ran on Monday, but it wasn’t without much patience from everyone involved.
At the end of the night, William Byron became a Daytona 500 champion after holding off teammate Alex Bowman before the final caution. After a slight overview of the notable moments, here are the NASCAR TV ratings following the 2024 Daytona 500.
.@FoxTV got 6.0 million viewers for Monday's re-scheduled Daytona 500.
🔲 The last rain-impacted Daytona 500 in 2021 got 4.83 million viewers but that race finished Sunday night.
🔲 The last time there was a Monday finish was 2020 when Trump came; that got 7.33 million viewers. pic.twitter.com/P4fMHHV1Hz

NASCAR earned 6.0 million average viewers for the 2024 Daytona 500. It was down over one million average viewers from the last postponed Daytona 500; however, the sport did well, considering the TV landscape has changed over the last four years. It was good that FOX still earned as much as it did on Monday evening, as there was a massive change in plans.
Now, the Cup Series focuses its attention on Atlanta Motor Speedway, as the second official weekend of the 2024 NASCAR season will be underway soon.
