NASCAR has been racing with stages in the Cup Series since 2017; however, the sport removed stage cautions at road courses in 2023. While it didn’t remove the stages, it gave fans and teams an appreciation for the past. In 2024, stages and stage cautions will return for all tracks. NASCAR released the lengths for each race next season on Wednesday.
Most notably, the Busch Light Clash and Coca-Cola 600 will have different rules due to the nature of the events. For example, the Coca-Cola 600 will have four stages at 100 laps, which is the common layout for the 600-mile event. Outside of those two races, the remainder of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, excluding the All-Star Race, has a normal layout.

Some fans didn’t accept NASCAR’s decision to move toward stage racing; however, it has created a new element throughout the year. Stage points make the difference between a Round of 16 elimination and a Cup Series championship, so the stage lengths for the 2024 season should be something that everyone knows going into the year.
