NASCAR has been working on a new TV deal as the current one is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2024 season. As of right now, FOX and NBC are the current partners while The CW is set to become the sole provider of the NASCAR Xfinity Series starting in 2025. Also, the sport is expected to pursue a third provider for a streaming portion of the season.
During the annual “State of the Sport” address at Phoenix Raceway, NASCAR president Steve Phelps brought up the current state of negotiations involving the next TV deal. Quite frankly, it was a really positive update from Phelps on the subject.
“One thing I want to talk to right up front, I’m sure there may or may not be a question on this, is where we stand with our media rights,” Phelps said. “Our media rights, the amount of interest in attaining our media rights for ’25 and beyond exceeded our expectations.”

“It is our expectation that not only having a great result with the CW with our Xfinity Series, and what’s going to be an incredible 33-race schedule on broadcast television, we believe that we’re going to have a very strong result with media partner…What that looks like, I don’t know. Are we getting towards the end of this process? We are. Did I think we would have a result earlier? I did. But we haven’t. It’s an incredibly competitive marketplace.”
It is a very positive sign that NASCAR has seen a tremendous amount of interest and that negotiations are starting to wrap up. It will be important to get the TV deal done so NASCAR can then put more focus on the charter agreement. FOX and NBC should be back in 2025 and beyond but the question is which partner acquires the third streaming package?
