The NASCAR Cup Series entered Los Angeles, California, for the third straight year as the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum marked the unofficial beginning of the 2024 season. Denny Hamlin took home the victory after sweeping the day; however, will this be the final time NASCAR races the Busch Light Clash in Los Angeles?
According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, NASCAR is considering taking the Busch Light Clash to Mexico City or Guadalajara as early as next year. This would mean NASCAR leaves the Los Angeles market for now in hopes of creating an international event. It would be a perfect situation as NASCAR wants an international race, and it wouldn’t count toward the point standings yet.
Also, it would create a new race location as a reach for new fans and generate excitement like Los Angeles featured in 2022. It is important to keep the NASCAR schedule fresh, and going to a new country for the Busch Light Clash would be exciting. It remains to be seen whether it happens or not, but it would be a successful outcome for the Cup Series.
