[autotag]Martin Truex Jr.[/autotag] has been going year-to-year when it comes to retirement since the NextGen car debuted. It was previously reported that Joe Gibbs Racing expects Truex to return for another year in the No. 19 car; however, nothing has been made official. Now, one NASCAR insider has given their prediction on whether Truex will retire, and it’s a big one.
Catchfence’s Lee Spencer was on the Performance Racing Network and gave her thoughts on Truex’s potential retirement. She marks one of many who believe the Joe Gibbs Racing driver will step away from NASCAR.
“I was thinking that it was gonna be easy to write the headline if he won. Martin Truex Jr. rides off into the sunset with final Sonoma win,” Spencer said. “I mean, I’m in your camp. I think that the wheels are already in motion. I think other drivers have already met with certain sponsors and the team, and I think they know, or close to know what they’re doing for 2025.”
It appears that Truex’s decision could be getting closer, and this might be his final full-time year in the NASCAR Cup Series. If so, Joe Gibbs Racing needs to figure out which driver will replace Truex, as the No. 19 car will be a hot commodity in the NASCAR silly season. First, Truex needs to announce whether he’s retiring, and hopefully, there will be an answer soon.
