NASCAR in discussions with Honda as talks ‘heat up’ for fourth OEM

NASCAR remains in discussions with Honda as talks for a fourth manufacturer are “heating up.” Find out what NASCAR had to say about it!

NASCAR has been flirting with the idea of a fourth manufacturer for several years. Right now, Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota are the only manufacturers in the NASCAR Cup Series. Dodge was the last OEM to leave the sport and previously had rumors about a potential return before talks stalled. Now, there appears to be some progress for another entry.

According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, NASCAR has been chasing Honda for years and remain in discussions with the automaker. This comes as NASCAR Chief Operating Officer Steve O’Donnell says the competition for adding a fourth manufacturer are “heating up.” So, could Honda be the next OEM to enter the Cup Series?

Honda is a part of the NTT IndyCar Series, but it has been reported that it is weighing an exit after 2026 unless costs are reduced. Would Honda be able to handle both NASCAR and IndyCar? It remains to be seen but NASCAR wants Honda to join Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. A fourth manufacturer would be great for the sport and hopefully, they acquire one either way.
