NASCAR faced an unprecedented situation at the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum almost two weeks ago. Due to the weather forecast, NASCAR moved the main event from Sunday night to Saturday night. The sport won’t do such a thing for the Daytona 500; however, the weather forecast looks uncertain with the coming weekend.
According to Weather.com, Daytona is expected to receive around an inch and a half of rain on Saturday and a half inch on Sunday. There is a 99% chance of rain throughout the day for the latter. However, the good news is that it is currently expected to rain earlier in the day with some clearing at night. Could NASCAR be forced into a Daytona 500 night race?
The weather forecast looks good for Monday, but NASCAR wants to race the Daytona 500 on Sunday. As long as NASCAR can finish the event around 1:00 a.m. ET, racing on Sunday will be the priority. If not, the sport will likely push it to Presidents’ Day on Monday. Hopefully, the weather holds off, and NASCAR can finish the Daytona 500 on Sunday night.
