NASCAR’s schedule for the 2024 Cup Series season has been a major point of conversation but it is starting to come into focus. To this point, it has been announced that Bristol Motor Speedway will host two concrete races while Indianapolis Motor Speedway returns to the oval layout. However, another major bombshell has come down in the NASCAR world.
According to The Athletic, NASCAR is expected to add Iowa Speedway to the Cup Series schedule for the 2024 season. An announcement could come as early as Tuesday as the Iowa governor has called a press conference for a “new major sports” event for next year. This comes as Montreal’s addition to NASCAR remains in doubt.
Overall, this is a brilliant move for NASCAR and one they will not regret anytime soon. Iowa is one of the best tracks in the sport and it just needs an opportunity for the race fans to show their love for racing. Hopefully, this means NASCAR will race at Iowa for a long time as a leaked graphic from the track website suggests it will be on Father’s Day weekend in 2024.
