NASCAR is fresh off an exciting weekend of racing at World Wide Technology Raceway, where the sport saw Austin Cindric beat Ryan Blaney after he ran out of fuel for his first win since 2022. Now, the racing series is set for Sonoma Raceway. The NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will participate on track, so let’s take a closer look at the entry lists released for Sonoma.
In the Cup Series, there are significant changes compared to usual. Will Brown (Richard Childress Racing) and Cam Waters (RFK Racing) join the show as open cars. Meanwhile, Kaz Grala (No. 15 for Rick Ware Racing) and A.J. Allmendinger (No. 16 for Kaulig Racing) are the two drivers for the teams with no full-time driver and a charter.

The Xfinity Series has a group of veteran and inexperienced drivers, with Ty Gibbs (Joe Gibbs Racing) and John Hunter Nemechek (Joe Gibbs Racing) coming back for starts. Most notably, Boris Said (Hendrick Motorsports) and Ed Jones (Sam Hunt Racing) will return to the Xfinity Series in 2024. Overall, one driver will miss the show with 39 entries at Sonoma.
The race weekend in Sonoma will begin on Friday, June 7. NASCAR is returning to Sonoma for its only date of 2024, and everyone is excited to see who can win on the newly repaved surface.
