El domingo por la noche NASCAR anunció que se había encontrado una horca en el garage de Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. y el equipo del No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports, en Talladega Superspeedway en Alabama. NASCAR declaró estar “enojado e indignado” y que inmediatamente abrió una investigación para encontrar quién lo hizo y “eliminarlo del deporte”.

Minutos después de que NASCAR diera la noticia, Wallace reaccionó con su propio mensaje en Twitter. Llamándolo un “despreciable acto de racismo y odio”. El piloto No. 43 de Chevrolet, de 26 años dijo que estaba “increíblemente entristecido” pero se rehusa a mantener silencio mientras ayuda a liderar el reciente compromiso de la NASCAR por luchar contra el racismo.
“Nada es más importante y seremos disuadidos por actos reprensivos de aquellos que buscan propagar odio”, escribió Wallace, en una parte. “Como mi madre me lo dijo hoy, ‘Solo intentan asustarte’. Esto no me quebrará, no cederé y tampoco me retiraré. Continuaré representando lo que yo creo”.
