NASCAR ‘confident’ in a Cup Series points race outside of the United States

NASCAR is reportedly “confident” in a Cup Series points race occurring outside of the United States. Find out what NASCAr had to say!

The NASCAR Cup Series races exclusively in the United States of America, but the sport is looking outside of the country. Over the last two years, NASCAR has been looking into the possibility of competing in another country, with Montreal falling through for the 2024 season. Now, based on comments from a major NASCAR figure, it could be coming soon.

NASCAR vice president and chief international officer Chad Seigler spoke to Motorsport.com about the possibility of a Cup Series points race outside the United States. Based on Seigler’s response, there should be optimism that it can occur sooner rather than later.

“For years, we said we want to go outside the U.S. and race, and you’ve seen us move from the messaging of it’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when,” Seigler said. “I would tell you that we’re leaning even closer now to, ‘Yes, we are going.’ I feel confident we’re going to be there sooner than later.”

This would be a big move for NASCAR, which has recently targeted Canada and Mexico as potential countries for a Cup Series event. The hope is that NASCAR can determine why the Montreal deal fell through and host a race in a different country. It would further illustrate the sport’s determination to make bold and creative changes.
