Defensive end Myles Garrett did not record a sack as the Cleveland Browns shocked the world in a 19-17 win over the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers. However, his impact was evident as he supplied constant pressure, and even got the best of future Hall of Fame offensive tackle Trent Williams.
And the left tackle understood the importance of Garrett’s impact, heaping him with praise after the game. Williams even referred to Garrett as a Hall of Famer in his postgame presser. That was not the end of the praise for Garrett and the Cleveland defensive front either:
“He’s one the best in the world… so we battled. It was tough. We’ve got a lot of respect for each other. He’s everything I thought he was going to be… They’ve got a really good front eight. [No.] 95 is the catalyst for all of that, and it’s not just him. Obviously, it’s more than just him. He’s just the biggest part, so we tried to do what we could do to contain him.” (via Nate Ulrick of Akron Beacon Journal)
Thanks to Garrett, who is having a Defensive Player of the Year-worthy season, and the rest of the Cleveland defense, the Browns now sit at 3-2 with the chance to make a significant run.
