Every year near through out the pre-season, likely as a way to drum up interest in the upcoming season, the NFL network airs a countdown show. They call it the “Top-100” and the premise is that it’s a ranking of the top-100 players in the NFL, as voted by the players in the NFL. It started as a way to fill broadcast windows during the 2011 NFL lockout, and due to the interest it receives has continued to air.
The list always has some questionable rankings, and analysts are quick to point out that not every player in the league gets a vote, and the players who do vote, only get to list 20 names, and many don’t even take the process that seriously. That being said, it’s still an interesting process to watch play out every year, and the b-roll videos the network puts together with highlights and the commentary from players are stellar.
This year, the highest ranked former Aggie great on the list is Myles Garrett, currently of the Cleveland Browns.
