Cleveland Browns defensive end Isaiah Thomas’s strong start to the preseason has continued. After a great game against the Packers last week, Thomas came up with an early sack of quarterback Nick Mullens to force a Vikings punt.
After the sack, reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett couldn’t help himself and had to mimic Thomas’s celebration on the sideline. Thomas kind of became the forgotten man on the practice squad last year, but if he keeps playing the way he is right now, he will make someone’s 53-man roster.
It’s a crowded room in Cleveland with Garrett, Za’Darius Smith, and others, so Thomas might not be able to stay with the Browns.
The Browns will continue the preseason next week in Seattle, and quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected to play for the first time. It’s hard to assess how the offense is doing in the preseason, but getting him back out there and getting live reps before they play Dallas will help him a ton.
