Happy NFL Kickoff weekend everyone! Texas A&M is always well represented throughout the league every season, and here at Aggies Wire, we will be keeping track of every former Aggie’s performances every weekend as we cheer them on after donning the maroon and white during their memorable collegiate careers.
Today, defensive end Myles Garrett and wide receiver Christian Kirk, two of the best players in Texas A&M Football history made their 2022 debuts on Sunday afternoon. Garrett, who is perhaps the best and most well-known player on the Cleveland Browns faced the Carolina Panthers while going against his former Quarterback Baker Mayfield. In what was purely a dominant performance, Garrett finished fourth in tackles, while posting a stat line of 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 2 QB hits, while just straight bullying rookie tackle Ikem Ekwonu for 1 of his two sacks of the day. Garrett’s big day defensively helped secure a 26-24 victory for the Browns.
Myles Garrett just sacked Baker Mayfield twice.
Mayfield has 0 TDs, 1 INT and the Panthers are down 20-7. Not what he was hoping for in his return.

Christian Kirk, who is now a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars after spending four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, and signed a 4 year, $72-million-dollar contract with the Jaguars in free agency this offseason. Making his debut with Jacksonville while facing the Washington Commanders in Washington, Kirk led the Jaguars in receiving, posting a stat line of 6 receptions for 117 yards with a 19.5 average in a losing effort, falling to the Commanders 28-22. As the number one wideout for Jacksonville this season, Kirk is in for what could be his best statistical season yet, continuing what he started during his highly successful three seasons with Texas A&M. Here’s one of Kirk’s best catches of the day!
