MIAMI–The Philadelphia 76ers needed others to step up on Wednesday night in Miami to begin a five-game road trip. The Sixers found out before the game that Joel Embiid would be out due to left foot soreness and they would have to find a way to win without him.
They did so convincingly as they led the Heat by as many as 25 as they used a big second quarter to fuel themselves to a 119-96 win to end a two-game losing skid and get back on track.
Tyrese Maxey and James Harden were the stars of the show as they combined for 50 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds, but Paul Reed had himself one helluva night.
Reed had 16 points, a career-high 14 rebounds, and he was a plus-26 in 13:24 of playing time. It was a night that his teammates made sure he got the love he deserves.
