MSU CB Charles Brantley ruled out for remainder of season

Arguably Michigan State’s best defensive player this season is officially out for the rest of the season

Arguably Michigan State’s best defensive player this season is officially out for the rest of the season.

Michigan State cornerback Charles Brantley was listed out for the remainder of the season in Friday night’s injury report ahead of the Spartans’ matchup against Purdue. Brantley suffered a lower leg or ankle injury in the loss to Indiana a few weeks ago. He missed the game against Illinois last week and was considered unlikely to return again this year, according to head coach Jonathan Smith.

Brantley appeared in nine games this season for the Spartans, recording 27 tackles, three interceptions and seven passes defended. He had a highlight reel interception for a touchdown in the Prairie View A&M game as well.

Kickoff between the Spartans and Boilermakers is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Friday. The game will be televised on FOX.
