MRI on Kyrie Irving’s right knee confirms sprain

The Brooklyn Nets will be without Kyrie Irving for another stretch of games.

Kyrie Irving will miss another stretch of games as a result of the injury he sustained in Brooklyn’s loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday.

The Nets initially announced Irving’s injury was a right knee sprain. Irving later stated he underwent x-rays and they came back negative.

Irving then received an MRI on Sunday to confirm there was no further damage. The MRI also confirmed Irving has a right knee sprain.

Specifically, Irving has a medial ligament sprain in his right knee. The Nets will re-evaluate Irving in one week.

Over the course of the next week, the Nets will face the Phoenix Suns (Monday), the Golden State Warriors (Wednesday), the Toronto Raptors (Saturday). If Irving will not be re-examined again until next Sunday, the soonest he can get back to game action is Monday, February 10 against the Indiana Pacers.
