The injury happened on the fourth offensive play of the night for the Jets. Rodgers couldn’t stand up after taking a sack from Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd and had to be helped off the field by trainers. He went for X-rays after a stop in the blue medical tent on the sideline which came back negative.
The team has feared this would be the case for Rodgers. Head coach Robert Saleh didn’t beat around the bush after the game. He said the injury didn’t look good. As it turns out, it was not good.
So barring the Jets bringing in a veteran option, it’s back to Zach Wilson, who went 14/21 for 140 yards, one touchdown and an interception in New York’s 22-16 win over Buffalo.
All the excitement for the season turned to concern and question marks in a matter of moments early in the first quarter. Rodgers is out, Wilson is in.
