Money Maker: A Kyle Allen spark in Washington could make the ‘Over’ bet a lock

When looking at where the best bets are for Washington’s game against Los Angeles, it seems that Allen’s presence may play towards the over.

One of the biggest things that we’re expecting to see from the Washington Football Team this weekend when they play host to the Los Angeles Rams is increased production on offense. With Kyle Allen now under center, the offensive playbook is sure to open up quite a bit, and it’s fair to assume that you might see players taking the field with a bit more pep in their step, with some fresh blood leading them.

Why does this matter when we’re talking about wagering on the game? Well, it may not affect the spread or outcome of the game as much as you’d think, but it undoubtedly will play a factor when we talk about the over/under.

As of Friday morning, the O/U stands at 46.5 points, according to our friends at BetMGM. We think that is a bit too low for this one. Consider this: The Rams are averaging over 26 points per game so far this season, and Washington is averaging just under 20. Of course, if you add those two up it makes the total sounds pretty accurate, but that’s before you consider the QB change, and think about what that might do to the offense. With Allen under center, you can expect a boost to both Terry McLaurin, Logan Thomas, and Antonio Gibson, as OC Scott Turner feels more comfortable calling some advanced plays and schemes that he couldn’t with Haskins under center.

We aren’t going to sit here and call for a Washington upset in Allen’s first game of the season, though I do think that he will be able to keep this one closer than many expect. However, I do think that we will see a good amount of offense. Ron Rivera placed Allen in the starting lineup because he thinks the QB was the problem with the offense, and this move has a chance to get them going in the right direction. If you believe him, then it might be smart to put your money where your mouth is.
