The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-10.5) aren’t at a crisis point. They might be if they lose to the New York Giants on Monday night.
Tom Brady’s team has vacated its claim as the NFC’s top team thanks to a pair of defeats to underwhelming conference foes the past three weeks. Two-possession losses to the New Orleans Saints and Washington Football Team have pulled back the vulnerabilities of a suddenly-sloppy offense. Brady’s four interceptions have cast a pall over what could be an Age-44 MVP season and Tampa’s chances at defending its Super Bowl title.
Fortunately, a showdown with the 3-6 Giants presents an opportunity to get back on track. New York has struggled through the start of what may be the final season with head coach Joe Judge and general manager Dave Gettleman behind the wheel. Their team has been mostly forgettable in 2021, certainly not good but also not quite bad enough to fall into the Texans/Jaguars tier of shame.
As such, it wouldn’t be completely shocking to see the Bucs drop another game to a middling foe working to jumpstart its postseason hopes. It would still be a surprise, though.
