Monday Big 12 Morning Rush: Another Schooler in the conference

The latest Big 12 morning rush features stories regarding the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma Sooners and Iowa State Cyclones.

A new week has begun as we inch closer to the season. Longhorns Wire scoured the web for the top stories from around the Big 12 Conference for the Monday morning rush. Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Iowa State provide the headlines.

Colin Schooler, brother of Brenden transfers to Texas Tech

The Texas at Texas Tech game on Sept. 26 to open conference play just became a sibling rivalry. Just two days after Brenden Schooler committed to the University of Texas, his brother commits to Texas Tech. Both Schooler brothers were at Arizona but with the Pac-12 cancelling the fall season it forced them to look elsewhere.

Brenden who plays wide receiver could see his brother Colin on the field. Colin is a linebacker and heads to a team that lost their best linebacker from a year ago, Jordyn Brooks. Colin has 312 career tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles and nine interceptions in his three seasons at Arizona.

Oklahoma’s battle between Spencer Rattler, Tanner Mordecai anything but normal

According to Sooners Wire, the quarterback battle between Spencer Rattler and Tanner Mordecai isn’t a normal battle. However, with the quarterback battle it has been a foregone conclusion of who will start. As you can’t find a single outlet mentioning that Moredecai is actually in the discussion. Looking at Heisman odds, it is clear everyone thinks that Rattler has had this all locked up for months.

Fortunately for Riley, there’s not really a wrong choice. Both redshirt freshman Spencer Rattler and redshirt sophomore Tanner Mordecai have a lot to offer.

Campbell: UNC transfer Greg Ross will not join ISU this season

Cornerback transfer from North Carolina Greg Ross has decided not to play for the Cyclones this season. According to 247Sports/Cyclone Alert. Ross chose not to play due to family situations.

“Some family situations have kept him close to home,” Campbell said. “He decided not to play football. We certainly respect him and have all the respect for him and his family. And we wish him the absolute best.”
