Summer is the season of the too-early mock draft. Our friends at Draft Wire have baked up their latest edition for the 2022 NFL draft, and the two rounds of projections restock the Browns with a couple of prospects from the Big Ten conference.
The order of the picks is based on the current Super Bowl odds. That leaves the Browns selecting at No. 26 overall in the first round and No. 58 in the second.
With the first-round pick, Draft Wire editor Luke Easterling projects Michigan defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson to the Browns. An EDGE with impressive physical traits, Hutchinson is looking to bounce back from a 2020 where he managed just three games before suffering a major knee injury. He strongly considered entering the 2021 draft early but opted for another year of Michigan football.
Indiana wide receiver Ty Fryfogle gets the nod with the second-round pick. The conference’s wide receiver of the year in 2020, Fryfogle is a long target with hyper-sticky hands and great body control.
Mock drafts at this time of the year are all about determining the names to watch in the coming season and matching them with relative need by the teams.
