Mo Gaba touched the lives of people in Baltimore and around the world. The short film “The Gift of Gaba” is now up for a national Emmy award

Mo Gaba made a profound impact on the lives of Ravens and Orioles fans everywhere. Now, as his story has grown and his legacy has been shared, the rest of the country has fallen in love with him as well.

A collaboration between Ravens Productions and NFL Network titled “The Gift of Gaba” has been nominated for a national Sports Emmy Award in the outstanding long feature category. The 14-minute story on how Gaba touched the hearts of so many in the Baltimore area highlights how much of a joy the 14-year old was to talk to and be around, and the never ending positivity that he shared with the world. On a conference call with reporters in 2020, head coach John Harbaugh recalled fond memories of his time with the super-fan, as well as the lessons that he was taught by what Gaba went through.

“Man, I was on cloud nine just soaring in a conversation with this 14-year-old, young guy.”

“To recognize what he dealt with every day, with the challenges that he had with his health, and to see that his spirit soared while his health failed him — that was a lesson for me. To me, it was a gift.”

Gaba passed away on July 28th, 2020 after his fourth bout with cancer. His joy, positivity, and smile will live on forever, and will certainly never be forgotten. His legacy has a place not only in Baltimore, but around the world.
