Missouri is coming off a valiant effort in a 55-54 loss to No. 2 Auburn Tuesday. Mizzou led the game at multiple points of the second half, including inside the final two minutes.

Missouri held Auburn to a 30.0% mark from the floor, and that effort fits with a recent uptick in defensive performance. Over their last four games, the Tigers have held foes to a 36.4% mark.

Iowa State defeated Oklahoma State 84-81 in overtime Wednesday. The Cyclones drained 12 3-pointers in the game, their most since Nov. 11. G Izaiah Brockington hit 3 of those treys en route to scoring 26 points. The transfer from Penn State is shooting 39.5% from beyond the arc this season.

Missouri at Iowa State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa State 70, Missouri 59

Money line

Mizzou may be getting too much attention off its near-win over Auburn. Iowa State is the more talented team here and playing on its home hardwood.

It perhaps takes a different-level bankroll to leverage spots like this, but ISU figures as a near-86% win probability in this contest. That makes for value on IOWA STATE (-600).

Against the spread

In this series, the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings. ISU is allowing just 61.0 points per game: Mizzou is 4-14 ATS in its last 18 games against team’s yielding 64-or-better.

The battle between two slower-tempo teams sets up as a low-total game, and that may scare off some would-be ISU bettors.

But the Cyclones defense feeds its offense off steals. The Tigers are prone to deficits in breakaway and second-chance points. Look for those to add up in a comfortable Iowa State victory.

BACK THE CYCLONES -9.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The listed total is in the ballpark: PASS.
