Miller Moss explains Lincoln Riley’s coaching approach regarding quarterback development at USC.
Riley’s quarterback development reputation will be tested this season. The man who coached three Heisman Trophy winners before turning 40 years old — Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams — also turned Jalen Hurts into an NFL-ready quarterback who nearly won the Super Bowl and has become a legitimate star with the Philadelphia Eagles. Riley cranks out great quarterbacks. His only conspicuous failure as a college head coach was Spencer Rattler, but that is the exception that proves the rule. If Riley can develop Moss into an elite quarterback, it will underscore the point that Riley has the magic touch with the quarterbacks he tutors. It will explain why Julian Lewis and other future college quarterbacks want to be coached by Riley and know that NFL-quality development will be part of their collegiate career if they spend it with Riley at USC.
